Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp of vanilla extract.
  • 1/2 cups of light corn syrup.
  • 100 toothpicks or skewers.
  • 3 lbs of grapes.
  • 2/3 cups of water.
  • 2 cups of sugar.
  • Food coloring.
  • Candy of your choosing

Instructions
 

  • Begin by preparing your grapes. Rinse the grapes and insert some toothpicks into the stem part of the fruit. You can also use skewers instead of toothpicks.
  • Set the grapes on paper and dry them before you dip them in the syrup.
  • Next prepare crushed candy that you will dip the grapes into. Crush any candy of your choosing using a mallet or hammer. you can crush the candy into small pieces or even a fine powder if you want to go all the way.
  • Put the crushed candy into a bowl and set it to the side ready for dipping in.
  • Next use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to mix the corn syrup, water, and sugar and bring the mixture to boil over medium-high heat. Make sure you maintain a good rolling boil as you stir frequently.
    Kindly do not allow the syrup to over boil. You can boil for about five minutes to bring it to the correct temperature.
  • A candy thermometer will be useful at this stage. It is used for making sure the syrup attains 300 Degrees F. At this stage, the syrup should be set on the grapes. It is called the hard crack stage.
  • Use parchment paper that is lined with a baking sheet ready to put the coated grapes for drying.
  • Stir the vanilla into the syrup. Dip the grapes one by one into the hot syrup. Make sure each grape gets entirely covered by the syrup and sprinkle each of them with crushed candy.
